Like Adam, I have a well-defined BS detector but I also believe that very few things out in the world in this genre don't have some value. You just have to be critical about what you accept and incorporate.

But, I do think that this is possible- the industry is still young and there many, many ways to make money in it. It's finding the right one, dedicating oneself, and sticking with it, IMHO.

Chad,

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I found the book to be very informative and in fact a partner and I are going to take up the challenge and see what kind of trouble we can in to, and hopefully what kind of money we can make ;)

I am curious what your online course will be like (I have signed up for the affiliate program already - just waiting for materials to become available) and I hope it's just as solid as the book. If it is, you can be sure I will promote it here.

Maybe you could grant me a short email (or whatever form is most convenient for you) interview regarding the program/book etc. Nothing like putting you on the spot. Of course I have a readership I can count on one hand (lol) but maybe you'll still do it. Maybe 10 short questions? Gotta ask, right?

Again - thanks for stopping by.

Hey Adam,

Thanks so much for the post. I can definitely appreciate the skepticism- I know how most info products look, and there's a lot out there made by people who are trying to cash in. That was the primary reason I decided to do this: the products I saw being marketed online weren't up to par, and they were often created by people who didn't have much experience in the app world.

It's a difficult balance, but we're doing our best avoid the cheesy hype so people will trust that our content is legitimate. Hopefully that comes across.

Thanks again!

Hey Stephan, thanks for stopping by. Sounds like you had a REALLY bad experience with Full Sail and I understand that you are not alone. In fact, it is difficult to find positive stories regarding Full Sail.

What's funny is that the one of the main reasons I think my wife is getting something out of class is because she was such a newbie. If I were to take these classes (I am a web developer, not a mobile developer) I would feel less OK with the things.

I guess right now you could call me cautiously concerned. I am hoping things improve and my wife continues to pick things up at the rate she has been.

I hope things turn out better for her than they did for you. What are you doing for a profession these days, Stephan?

I find it interesting that your wife also was left to "learn" on her own with either google or Lynda. I attended in 09 ( a different program) and was left feeling the same. The classes didn't go in depth for what I was paying and Lynda.com seemed to be the real instructor. Check out the in depth information about Full Sail University at my website www.fullsailreviews.net

Hey Manuel, thanks for stopping by. I will admit that I was a little put off when I found out that Chad is putting together an online marketing course for this material, the way Frank Kern and his ilk do. Not really my thing and too much hype and most people usually end up getting ripped off - in my opinion.

However, the book itself is cheap and full of GREAT insight and marketing ideas for your apps. I think if you take a long term outlook and realize that you will need to put several apps in the app store to make this work then you'll do alright. Maybe you'll get lucky and one will take off, but more likely you will need to build what Chad calls an "app network" of several apps driving traffic to each other. I have a friend with several apps in the app store doing just this. He isn't rich yet, but he is earning money and I think when he takes action on some of the things in this book he will be making a lot more money.

So, if you're realistic and are interested in BUILDING a long term BUSINESS and not looking for a get rich quick scheme, I say go for it! At least get the book...

Good luck! Objective-C is a fun language, but it and the iOS toolkits have some peculiarities, and some sharp corners that can be challenging. Once you reach the other side it's a heap-load (perhaps even a metric heap-load) of fun.
